Greetings precious FFR&R'ers ~
Rave ~ Our Minnesota Twins. They are our Cinderella story this year. And this bunch of guys deserve it, they are such good kids. What a team, I hope they go all the way. You all pull for 'em now, ok?

Baby boy coming home in December.

Yankee and I ready for Buenos Aires..shopping lists are ready too lol...

RANT: AIRLINE TRAVEL! What was once a nice experience has become the equivalnet of a Greyhound Bus with wings. Cattle calls, overbooked flights, delays are jsut becoming the norm, not longer the exception. In fact, we have decided to forgo any vacation next yeat that involves airline travel.
RAVE: Living in Orange County, CA. I have come to appreciate the beauty and scenery of my own backyard. No need for airlines!

Im only going to rave and think positive thoughts!
My contract has been extended for another 6 months (I wanted to retire again but it does appear that they like me
)
We are trying to buy a house the seller has extended the purchase and sale until Oct 12th he has a lot of paperwork/permits that he needs to complete/be signed off before he can sell the house. On the positive side we still stand a chance of buying the house It is so cute! Its purple with a turret.
We have get togethers planned for Friday and Saturday with good friends.
Two new babies born to a workmate and friends one girl, one boy How perfect!
Still keeping my fingers crossed for OWJ and Tiff which probably explains my typing skills

I'm not usually up at this hour, but I'm in Calgary getting ready to fly home to NJ, and 7 am flight to Houston means airport at 5 ish. Not my favorite time of day. In another 15 hours I'll be home.
Rave: Just spent a great week in Calgary for business training. Met some very cool colleagues and learned lots.
Rave: Going back home to my husband and kitty cats. I missed them!
Rave: Spending the weekend in Long Beach Island (LBI) in NJ for annual Chowderfest.
Rave: Only a few more weeks 'til the NJ/NY/CT GTG and lots of Fodorites are signed up to be there!

in a LONG time 
I could have posted this the past weekend, but I was still so shocked that I could not even type about it!
Saturday night my long-time, unofficial DH - we are not married after many years of happily living and traveling together - and I were lazily finshing our bottle of wine after dinner and discussing Travelgirl2's epic trip report.
I was telling him about her wonderful attitute and the marvelous things that she has done to show her children the world....That led to a conversation about the values and views our parents taught us and the ones we wanted to pass on to our DD...We went on to discuss how wonderful it was that we had found in each other the perfect companion....
After a few twists and turns along the curvy road of dialogue, something totally unexpected happened: HE PROPOSED!!!!!
Needless to say, when I regained my speech, I said!
After all these years...we are going legal!
We are going to invite everyone for our regular pre-thanksgiving dinner and have the judge show up as a surprise. No fuss whatsoever.
Now I have a honeymoon in Yucatan/Quintana Roo to plan

Rave: My Friends from Fodorville, Scarlett,Tiff, and Enzian ...you always make a rant seem dimmer and a rave seem brighter.
Rave: Marigross, what a wonderful idea for your wedding. Best wishes.
Rave: Catie needs a Halloween costume for her visits to the Ronald McDonald House.
Rant: Her owner is "artistically" challenged. Help please! If you have a great...simple... idea post it for me on "Other topics" please. (We have already tried Groucho and ghost.) Starrsville (thank you, Starrsville) sent me some great pictures but they are a bit too complicated for my skill level.
Rant: The ankle is broken. Big lecture from my mom and DH on being careful on excercise equipment.
Rave: I am sixty years old still being lectured by my mom!
Rave: I told the doc I had to be able to hike in Patagonia. He said I would be ready and gave me an excercise plan to use till the "boot" comes off. WHEW.
Rave: Taking the time to do acts of kindness (that was a nice thread) and taking the time to say thank you.

RAVE: Gorgeous, gorgeous weather in the Raleigh area. Fall is coming ... got a little chilly in the shower this morning.
RAVE: (Almost) 9 yr. old granddaughters ... mine calls me from cross country a couple of times a week to chat about everything she can think of!
