Need some guidance on how to arrange a travel for my husband and I for our first time to Europe. We are departing from the Washington, DC area. Travel dates are September 30th - October 11th. We are looking for recommendations on how to arrange travel - DC - London - Paris - Rome. In addition, need guidance on where to stay in the cities. Is there a site you all recommend to arrange the travel and hotel? What is the best way to arrange the train travel between London and Paris. We are also thinking of a day trip in Rome to Venice or Amalfi coast. Thank you in advance for the feedback.

If you mean September this year you have left it very late to book. In any case, you should repost this on the Europe board, as this board is for general tips.

Do Repost on the Europe forum . . . But neither Venice nor the AC is a day trip from Rome.

Another problem, if you do mean this year, you have left it very VERY late to be booking Eurostar tickets.

Are you departing on the 30th and returning on the 11th? If so, there will be no time for any day trips. As said, Venice and the AC are way to far for day trips from Rome.

Do you have tickets purchased?

10 days is very, very rushed for those three large cities.

If you do not have tickets purchased, cut your trip to London and Paris. That would be a great trip. Get multi-destination, into London, out of Paris. Take the train between.

For all three cities, tickets should be into London and home from Rome? You could then cut Paris and fly from London to Rome.

If tickets are RT London, then do London and Paris. Forget Rome.

When looking at travel time, add in time getting to/from hotels.

Have you already purchased plane tickets?

If not I would reconsider your itinerary and choose only two cities in ten days. I'd go with Paris/Venice.

I agree with the previous opinion, ten days for these locations are not a very good idea, there is just too much of a culture that you have to absorb, these are counties full of atmosphere and specific sights. So if you not just want to have a picture of the major sightseeings, I can also recommend to choose maximum 2 of these locations.
