Hi, again. It's been awhile since I visited/hosted your forum. You are extremely knowledgable and helpful.
Since I wrote the book that shares a name with this Solo Traveler forum (they were cooked up at the same time by Fodor's, to support each other), the editors occasionally ask me to comment on solo travel in one way or another. This time it's a solo "meeting others" travel wire piece on Fodor's home page. I'm sure you have many, many more ideas on this--I just gave a taste. What are your best ideas on how to meet people on the road?
Also, would be interested in your opinion of my highly interactive solo living website, www. sololady.com
I'm really proud of it, and hope it becomes another helpful community for solo women.

Three comments on your well-written piece.
First, all your examples have to do with international travel. Do you also find it easy to meet people while traveling solo in the United States?
Second, I wonder if there would be much of a market for a "helpful community for solo men" if I started one. Your new site isn't the first one for women (but I wish you success anyway).
Finally, I now understand why you seem to have a much easier time meeting people on solo trips than I do. Judging from your picture, you're much better looking than I am!

Thanks for the kind words, JB and Sharon. As far as meeting people, it doesn't matter what you look like, but the warmth you project. A smile and a question will do it. And I find meeting people anywhere in the world the same: treat others with respect and you're fine. As for my lifestyle website, www. sololady.com it is becoming a real community for single women, with many interactive features, and I hope some of you will check it out.
