6 days beginning of Sept, where to go!
I scheduled to take 6 days off in between jobs at the beginning of Sept but now I do not know where to go. Is 6 days enough to travel from Los Angeles to some far away place? I have a budget of around $1000 including flights/hotel so I am looking for a package deal. I prefer to travel internationally or go across an ocean. I won't get a vacation for a whole year at my new job and I can always do short domestic weekend getaways during that time.
Countries I would like to visit (the list is constantly changing):
Indonesia
Taiwan
China/Tibet
Turkey
Israel
South Africa
New Zealand
Scandanavian countries
Other locatinos I would consider plopping down for 6 days include:
Cancun
Caribbean - Jamaica, Bahamas, DR, Turks & Caicos, etc.
North/South Pacific island (other than Hawaii)
Belize/Panama
Brazil - Iguazu Falls
Cuba
Does anyone think it would be worth the flight and cost to travel to any of the above mentioned places. Even though I prefer to stay in a resort, possibly even an all inclusive, I would still like to experience the culture, thinking Bora Bora over Cancun, Brazil over Belize. This is my first time travelling alone without my gf, if she was coming with me I would choose cities like Moscow/St. Petersberg, Budapest, Safari in South Africa, Colombia. Places that have a lot of museums, shopping, restaurants for both of us to enjoy each others company.
Need to book soon, my fallback is to go surfing everyday here in LA and go fishing, but I can do that any day.
Also, since it is my first solo trip, any ideas on what to expect. I am thinking lots of lonely days/nights, but then there is the independence to make decisions on my own, eat and see whatever/whenever I want.

mexico.bookit.com would be nice pretty close within budget
Cabo usually least rain in rainy seasons Dreams
is a nice AI there good personal experience
Flights too expensive to all your other destinations
quite rainy in Carib CA but check www.spirit.com which
goes out of LAX and then more exotic destinations
If you can make a bit more time fly Spirit to Lima
do www.incalandadventures.com from $300 with Flavio
great exotic experience I did it recently for around $1k
Happy Travels!

Solo travel is GREAT. No need for "lonely day/nights".
That said I think everywhere on your list is too far away/expensive if you only have 6 days.
How about flying either to Cabo or Puerto Vallarta? Quick flights from LAX and loads of opportunities for places to stay and meeting people while you're there.
