I'm really asking this on behalf of a friend... His wife was in Bom Jardin during the floods/mud slides.. Does anyone know anything about this area?
Thanks

His wife must be a child bride to have been born during the recent floods. ;-)
I haven't heard anything specific regarding Bom Jardim but there was signifcant loss of life not far away in Nova Friburgo and Sumidouro which aren't far away. The father of a friend of my wife lost his house and all his possesions in Nova Friburgo this week.
Airports in the city of Rio are working fine, there hasn't been significant disruption.
If you want news on the area try:

Update: Footage shot in Bom Jardim by a local.

It seems the bridge leading to Nova Friburgo from Bom Jardim has collapsed.
