just back from cusco

My husband & I are just back from a wonderful 10 days in Cusco, Machu Picchu, Puno & Lima - the weather was glorious and crowds manageable, all in all a perfect vacation! We did our trip with Peru Best Tours and Mike heped us put it all together, would most strongly reccomend him to anyone planning to visit Peru. Luckily we didn't have any problems with altitude sickness, though we took care to keep our first day at Cusco free to acclimatise. Trip report coming up...

I was just there also! In fact, I am in Lima right now, returning home tonight. It is all so spectacular, isn't it? My big surprise was lake Titicaca, very beautiful once you get out on the islands. lcuy- I found a great guide if you are going out there. You have to be very careful who you book with.... I made some reservations with a tour operator at Cusco airport called Inkapal and it was a terrible experience. I don't know how much more it costs though going with the great companies.

Thanks ncounty. I am not going to Lake Titicaca...Decided to fly to Iquitos and stay at Explorama lodge, as the Amazon turned out to be very high on my husband's wish list!

We have a guide by the name of Chino picking us up at Cusxo airport to drive us to Ollan. He seems really good in his emails; I'll report later how it goes in real life!

Though I'm still 3 weeks away, how was the weather?

The weather is gorgeous right now, lcuy! I am in Lima at the airport waiting to board. It was about 72 degrees today and partly sunny. It was gorgeous in Cusco when I left there yesterday morning as well. You should have great weather.

Hi geetika
I can't wait to read your trip report.
Ed and I will be in Peru in October. We also worked with Mike at Peru Best Tours. It is encouraging that all went well. Mike worked very dellignetly with us to create what we believe to be the perfect trip. this trip will celebrate our 50th anniversary as well as both of our birthdays. We will be on MP on my birthday. I have inquired with Mike about renewing our vows while on MP. I think it would be GREAT!! We are so excited and counting the days. This is our second time to try to plan this trip.
