Help with Argentina and Uruguay 3 Week Itinerary
Hi All,
My husband and I are planning a 3 week trip (including travel time) to Argentina and Uruguay in December. We plan to fly in and out of Buenos Aires from LAX.
So far our stops include:
Buenos Aires
Mendoza wine region
Iguazu Falls
Uruguay beaches
I would love some advice on recommended amount of time for each stop. After doing my research, it seems it is best to fly from BA to Mendoza and from BA to the Falls. Our plan was to leave Uruguay for the very end, take a boat from BA, and rent a car to drive to the beaches. Any suggestions for number of days in each area would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help!

What time of year are you planning on going? Is there any reason you have chosen those particular places?
Iguazu needs a couple of days to see both sides of the falls which I would strongly recommend.
Mendoza just did not appeal to me that much and, like Thursdaysd I would give serious consideration to Patagonia or maybe Salta.

Great idea to rent a car and go yo the fab Uruguayan beaches.
I think your itinerary is very good. As in all trips you have leave interesting destinations for next time.
The region has changed in a way ,be alert.

We will be there in December. We were including Mendoza b/c we are both big fans of Malbec wines. I have heard good things about Salta, but will it be too hot at that time? If Patagonia, which area would you recommend? We would love to see Perito Moreno Glacier, but is it worth flying all the way down there?

"Is it worth flying all the way down there?"
Absolutely. I spent two full days seeing glaciers, and then took the bus to El Chalten to admire Mt Fitz Roy. I had seen glaciers up close before (Pakistan and New Zealand) but these were even more impressive, with wonderful color. The blue was so deep, and in places so electric, as to appear unnatural.
See: http://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com/...more-glaciers/ - and the following post for El Chalten.
