Estancias Outside Buenos Aires, Argentina

I am having the hardest time finding an estancia that has availability AND meets our desires for an estancia stay. We want to stay in a nice (doesn't need to be five star, but needs to be comfortable with great food and drinks) that has a horseback riding program that does more than just ride around the perimeter of the property which seems to be the compliant on many of the luxury estancias. We don't want to drive more than 2 and 1/2 hours from BA since we are only going for 2 nights. Any recommendations, we really liked La Bamba but it seems their horseback program is a little weak.

We are going October 29th and 30th.

Thanks!

I suggest you research Estancia Los Dos Hermanos, by using these links and draw your own conclusions:

It may or may not be what you are looking for.

Have a great time in my country with your DH, striebee

Avrooster will also know that I loved and adored Dos Hermanos so much that I gave it a top rating and am going back for another four days this coming November. While the rides are largely within a few miles of the estancia, you do walk, trot and canter on lovely animals, the estancia itself is lovely, the owners are fantastic, the food is to die for, and while Avrooster is being nice about saying draw your own conclusions, I say ride out in the pastures to go meet Tito the ginormous friendly water buffalo (I'm not making this up) and join daughter Ro for a nice long gallop. She will take you out far afield enough so that you don't feel tied to a tether to the main house.

Being an experienced rider, I can't wait to go back. Close in to BsAs, good horses, good food, lovely old fashioned accommodations, hey, I was sold. Have fun making your choice and happy travels.

e just spent a couple of wonderful days at El Ombu. It was lovely, the owner was just charming and helpful and the place was comfortable. Never heard so many birds. Wildlife is all over. I particularly like riding the funky bikes around and exploring.
