I need advice on how to get from the Cusco airport to the Tierra Viva Cusco Plaza hotel. At the airport, is there a way to recognize reputable cabs? Are there shuttles? Or should I contact the hotel and ask them to arrange transport from the airport to the hotel?

Get the hotel to collect you from the airport. By far the safest way and should not be much more expensive than getting a taxi and far lower risk.

We stayed at that hotel earlier this spring. I am sure that the hotel offered complimentary pickup at the airport. Maybe because we were staying three nights? And don't be surprised when the cab drives through the plaza and you can't believe it is a real street. It is! And I highly recommend the small Spanish restaurant that is right next door.

Contact the hotel. As laurie said, many hotels offer free pickup if arranged in advance, and even if it's a charge, it shouldn't be very much.

Cusco city and airport are quite close.
