Argentina vs Chile

Trying to plan a trip to go to either Chile or Argentina at the end of December and into January. Im wondering if there are any weather considerations to take into account when deciding where to go.
Also, wondering whether to go to Patagonia in Janurary and visit Torres De Paine? Was looking at the Awasi Resort but it's all booked up. Does anyone have another replace they might recommend?

TdP in January is fabulous. We greatly enjoyed Las Torres, about as close to the mountains as possible.

I assume if you're looking at Awasi you are after the luxury resorts. So the next one on the list is Explora.

You'll just have to go down the list and see who's got availability.

I'm a little late to the topic but a few years ago we went through Chile at the end of December and then Argentina in January and the weather was beautiful. Really the only issue we had was that one of the volcanoes had been erupting for a while and the sky would occasionally turn ash grey. It was warm, bright, and sunny but you couldn't see more than half a mile or so.
