Argentina back in the Visa Waiver Program?

Our new government said it is trying to get Argentina back into the list of the countries included in the USA's Visa Waiver Program.

This could take quite a while, but, if it happens, it will mean Americans no longer will be charged the prevailing "reciprocity fee", making tourism to Argentina cheaper and easier for US citizens.

Have a great time in my country.

Well, that sounds like a potential policy change that would redound to the benefit of both Argentines and US Citizens traveling to each other's countries.

Wouldn't that be grand? Ours doesn't expire until some time in 2020 though and if we are still breathing and ambulatory a free visa would be perfect for this "queen of cheap".

mlgb: Argentina IS fab........you'd love it.

The above headline from our leading daily suggests the lifetime of the reciprocity fee is quite limited.

Therefore, if planning to travel to Argentina, delay as much as possible the payment of the prevailing reciprocity fee.

Have a great time in my country.

You won't have to wait that long.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama promised something of the sort in the course of his visit to our country next week.

Have a great time in my country, without having to pay the so-called "reciprocity fee".

Good call, AV.

Effective immediately, the Reciprocity fee has been suspended. This in the wake of Presidents Obama and Macri's discussions on improved relationships between the US and Argentina. No word yet on Argentina's readmission to the US Visa Waiver program, but I suspect that announcement will follow.

Well, Doc, perhaps you could add in your http://tinyurl.com/jjhhpdv that a proscript from TA forecast this would happen over two months ago.

But, then, perhaps you could lose your TA DE tin star. LOL!!!

Other readers could note the best (not the most abundant)information on Argentina is right here, not elsewhere.

Have a great time in my country, with NO reciprocity fee.

AV, I already have enough on my TA plate fending off criticism by an American ex pat of my comments about my approval of the direction Macri is taking Argentina following Cristina's far leftist, anti-US rhetoric and policies. I'll leave to others to crown you as the nostradamus of Argentina.

Great!

If avrooster were able to post on TA, he would most certainly support your "comments about my approval of the direction Macri is taking Argentina following Cristina's far leftist, anti-US rhetoric and policies".

Our minister for Foreign Affairs confirms Nostradamus' forecast of over two months ago:

Have a great time in my country. Reciprocity fee, RIP.
