Alternative to Theme Parks for older visitor

My wife and I are in our 50's and visiting Orlando in February for 10 days. We're staying in the Lake Buena Vista Resort, simply beacuse it's convenient. We have a car included in our package. We're not particularly interested in visiting the themes parks, although we're not ruling it out.

We enjoy walking, sightseeing and nature and would appreciate recommendations of where to go. We've had Cocoa Beach, Tampa and Bradenton/Sarasota recommended to us, any other ideas? Are Everglades and Florida Keys 'do-able' in a day?

You can wander around Downtown Disney at LBV free of charge lotsof adult oriented attractions like Cirque and Wolfgang Puck along with the kiddie stuff. Epcot adult oriented part if
you choose to spend the high admission cost.

cocoabeach.com visitorlando.com lots of other adult activity.

It's a long drive from Orlando the the Keys. Don't know how far down in the Keys you were considering. Orlando to Key Largo is abot 235 miles.

And I'm older than you, schmerl...but also would avoid theme parks. Daughter living Cocoa Beach area thinks it is too commercial, i.e., selling stuff. Yes, Cape Canaveral does have good tours. We were at Keys for Thanksgiving...yes too far for a drive from Orlando. We love the state parks and you might consider Sarasota, popular with many seniors but has Ringling Museum etc.

In your 50's makes you some of the "younger" visitors to Florida... You will enjoy Epcot... less rides, more of a cultural and museumey experience... also an international experience... less crowded in February before spring break... have fun

Blue Spring is a great place with the boardwalk up high above the spring run and boil. You get a great bird's eye view of the crystal clear water and of the Manatees

These gardens are wonderful for walking and they have a wonderful outdoor movie night Valentine's..

Disney's planned town Celebration is fun to walk around..interseting architecture, downtown walkable area.

Discovery Cove--while a SeaWorld property, no Ammusement park feeling. Has Dolphins,a bird aviary, lots of focus on conservation and a tropical oasis with a limit of 1000 people a day..much more intersting and appealing. The website alone is a blast.

ptp, Here is something that might be right up your alley. A boat trip on the St. John's river is something too many visitors to Florida miss.

If you enjoy nature, drive a few miles north and check out Ocala National Forest. It's free, uncrowded, and about as un-commercial as you could imagine.

Winter Park, just north of Orlando. Stroll down Park Avenue and pick one of the sidewalk cafes for lunch. Visit the Morse Museum with its amazing collection of Tiffany glass (and other Tiffany objects) www.morsemuseum.org/ . Take a pontoon boat tour of Winter Park's chain of lakes scenicboattours.com/ Enjoy birdwatching at Mead Gardens http://www.meadgarden.org/visit .
