All Saints (Nov 1) in Portugal

Our plan is to arrive in Lisbon on Oct 30 and then catch a train to Coimbra. We will then take the train to Porto on November 1, which is All Saints Day and a national holiday.

Since this is a national holiday and falls right before a weekend, I expect we should reserve train tickets in advance. But I was wondering if the holiday is enough of an issue that we should change the order of our trip so that we train directly from Lisbon to Porto, then on to Coimbra, then Lisbon. I know some European countrie shave adopted Halloween celebrations, and I was wondering if a university town like Coimbra has a party atmosphere at that time. (I ask this because the hotel rates for October 30-Nov 1 seem to jump up slightly.)

Also, I plan to fly direct to Lisbon both ways and not do open jaw.
