Driving Route: Rome to Vieste

Hello,
I'll be driving from Rome to Vieste. Google Maps and Via Michelin recommend taking A25/E80 to A14 to SS693 to SS89.
It's estimated to be ~5 hours.
To anyone who's familiar with this route - Would you also suggest this is the best route?
Thank you.

Six of one. Half dozen of the other.

You could just head down the A1 and then cross the country.

I guess the A14 route minimizes the time of the non autostrada roads.

But I'd think about where you want to stop along the way.

A-1 via Isernia and Termoli?

Are you planning any stopovers?

We drove from Vieste to Termoli and on to Fiumicino town, with 2 stopovers of (I think) 2 nights each, last September: One in agriturismo not far from Termoli and the other in Lazio, within an easy drive of Fiiumicino near Cassino. We spent the final 2 nights in Fiumicino town before flying out of FCO.

It was our first time in Gargano (also first time in Molise).Hope it will not be the last!

Vieste is a gem! Roads into the Gargano can be tricky and GPS not always accurate so please double check your route once you get onto the promontory.

Thanks for your inputs. We're not planning any overnight stopovers, so it sounds like the A14 route that Google and Michelin are recommending are the best.
