Southeast Labrador

My husband and I will be going to Newfoundland end of September. We were thinking about taking the ferry over to South East Labrador. Has anyone done that? Is it worth the trip as a day trip or overnight? What would you recommend we see?

I've been twice and looking at the Labrador Coastal Drive website, I'd like to go again to hike between the villages. Red Bay is pretty. Point Amour lighthouse is nice (2nd tallest in Canada) and there's an ancient burial mound nearby (a pile of rocks, basically). I saw dolphins jumping out of the water on the ferry trip. There are things to visit near Mary's Harbour but the road there can be rough. Pavement ends at Red Bay.
