Tell me about Los Cabos during Summer months. . .

Our family is looking to fly down to Cabo San Lucas while visiting S. California during the summer. It will be the first visit to the region for the whole family.

We were looking into staying at the Casa Del Mar Golf Resort or the Pueblo Bonito Rose Resort. Has anyone stayed in either of these two hotels? What do think of these two places and how friendly are they to visitors? Is there a better resort in the area at comparable price?

Also, I'd appreciate any feedback about the locals, dining, beaches, children activity, transportation, fishing, and costs.

Thanks.

The Bonito Rose is much closer to town on a major swimming beach. It is a very nice resort. I'm not very familiar with the Casa Del Mar Golf Resort but it must be out between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. If you want to come into town often the taxi fare could add up. If you golf and want a more relaxing, quiet trip I would suggest staying at the Casa Del Mar. Please e-mail me if you want more details about the town.

My boyfriend and I went down to Cabo San Lucas in June 1998 and we loved it!! He has been there many, many times. It was hot, but I am from Phoenix and hot isn't HOT until it is about 118 degrees. We stayed at the Melia Resort. It was very beautiful(open lobby) and right on the beach. We always walked to the town for the shopping, dinner and night life. We also sea kayaked from right in front of out hotel to Land's End. The people are incredibly friendly and simple. It was not very touristy when I went there (which is something I like). Keep in mind it is a third-world country and some are offended by impoverished conditions. My boyfriend scuba dives so I just hung out on the beaches and the boat. There are the standard beach activities, but mainly it is a place to go and relax.

Hope this helped.

We just got back from Cabo over Easter break 2000. And it was HOT! We did stay at the Bueblo Bonito Rose. The people werent as curteous as in other resorts and we found the rooms to be small and a bit pricey. Timeshare rooms are no different. We did stay at the Melia Cabo Real and loved it, even tho about 20 min away from town. My other recommendation would be the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar. What a beautiful resort. That too is about 15 min driving time from town. That was to be my first choice but my husband is in a wheelchair and we just wanted to be within wheeling distance to the Marina. Go see Alex at his rest. Alexanders at the Marina, he can hook you up on fishing. Enjoy!

cabo san lucas is uncomfortably hot in the summer. late summer is hurricane season, so more humid also. these also will generate large swells making the beaches too dangeous to swim at. Although, the views will still be pretty.

Our family (3 teenage sons) visited Cabo last year in late July. We stayed at the Hacienda Beach Resort. It was a very nice hotel, nice beach and restaurant. They have a web site you can visit for rates. My husband and sons loved the golf courses there...however....very, very expensive....the Lighthouse tour was hot, dusty and miserable, but fun. I had to pray the whole time asking God to keep my boys from being injured from the "swarm" of 4-wheelers darting everywhere...that is...if they weren't stuck in the sand. Night life is for the booze crowd. Food was good but expensive. Don't go on a time share hoping to get something free...nothing there is free....the landscape was totally barren...nothing green past the resorts...best time to visit is in early spring, I hear. I won't go back unless it's in the spring. I wouldn't advise Cabo for young families...sorry...my opinion.

My family and I just returned from the Pueblo Bonito Rose (June 2000). We had a terrific time! My children of 5 and 7 loved the Rose, with its extra large pool and being on the beach with beautiful views from most the rooms. The people were very courtious. Say hello to Arturo at the pool bar if you get there!!
Resturants were great to ok. The Original Trailor Park in Cabo was great, but very pricey. Take lots of cash (200 for the 4 of us), no CC accepted. Our favorite for the week was Romeo & Julieta. It's Italian food and it was great. The kids had the pizza from their wood burning oven, and we had the specialty: Lasagna WOW!!! The four of us got out for $65 that included a second pizza for lunch the next day. Ediths was good sea food. Mi Casa was good for Mexican (very spicey). Macambo's was ok, maybe we just ordered the wrong food. My lobster wasn't that good.
For an american meal, we ate one night at the Hard Rock Cafe. I was very suprised. The burgers, fajitas, and Bar-B-Q were very good, and the price was like being at home (4 eat for around $65) with lots of beer for dad. The rest of the restuarants were $100 for 4.

All in all, I give Cabo the best place we've been, and we've been to Acapulco, Cozumel, Cancun, and PV.
Taxis were 5 from the Rose to about everywhere. The Medano beach by the Rose was great. They keep a private area roped off from the venders. Our kids loved the pool and the beach, and didn't want to do anything else.

I highly recommend the Rose.
