Tamarindo, Costa Rica, in July
Hello Fodorites,
I am thinking about a 9 night trip to Costa Rica in July, early July. I have read that Tamarindo is usually the driest in this time period. We would have a car, what day trips are recommended from here? Is it a good base to explore the area? Thank you!

Tamarindo is an awesome base for exploring the Nicoya Peninsula. Staying here, you'll be close to some of Tamarindo's nicest reserves. Make time to visit the Tamarindo National Wildlife Refuge, and the Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas (one of the best beaches in Costa Rica for observing leatherback turtles).
You'll also be near Playa Flamingo, one of the most popular and gorgeous beaches in the region.
What types of day trips did you have in mind?
