Puerto Vallarta in June - so how hot and humid is it?

Going to Puerto Vallarta for the first time at end of June - and have seen many articles on how hot and humid it is during the summer months. I know its a personal tolerance level thing, but can someone who has been there please give me some better idea of what to expect at that time? For example, is it much worse than the U.S. East Coast in August, for example? Or is the air as stagnant and stifling as the New York subway in summer? =) Is there at least usually a nice breeze off the ocean to move the air around, and does it cool off at night? Oh yeah, and should I expect LOTS of mosquitoes?

I was in Puerto Vallarta 3 years ago and am also going back in late June. I have to tell you, it is hot! One thing to do is if you can, wear shorts on the plane 'cause when you arrive and step off the plane, the humidity and temp. will hit you like a wall. The temps usually hang in the 80's at night. During the last few days of my trip 3 years ago there was a hurricane off shore and it was still bloody hot at night even with the winds. I wore shorts throughout the WHOLE trip it was always warm out. I cant tell you about any similarities between the east coast and their cause I have never been to the east coast...yet. Have a great trip!

I went to Puerto Vallarta at the end of June last year and I've never experienced such high humidity. I can usually stand the heat pretty good (Las Vegas last year in August - 45 degree's) but there is no humidity. In Puerto Vallarta, when we would go outside down to dinner we would carry a small towel with us to wipe the sweat. I don't think I would go there again at that time of year, but this year end of June Im going to Cancun, im hoping its not so high in humidity.

Heat and humidity were so bad when we were there with small children that we left early. It NEVER cooled off, the kids got up each day with sunrise, and the AC in the condo didn't seem to offer any cooling either. Toddler was sleeping in a playpen, as they had no cribs, and she was covered with red welts by the time we went home on Wednesday rather than Saturday. We just could never seem to think it was so hot and humid.

Hi Fred. We've never been to PV in June before but one time we were there at the tale end of el nino in October and I couldn't believe the humidity. We've found that some areas are worse. If where you're staying is not near the water but surrounded by lots of jungle (like ours was that time) it's worse. Being by the water seems more tolerable. One thing I've found that I would not be without down there is one of those silly portable battery operated little fans that you can buy at the dollar stores. I carry it with me at all times & it's been a lifesaver a couple of times when we've been stuck in traffic on stifling hot busses. Go and find one now...you won't regret taking it !

It's no worse than Miami or the lower east coast in summer. Max temp. 95F and pretty high humidity until it rains (every day in the late afternoon or night time for 2 hours) and then the temp. drops as does the humidity. Plenty of a/c in hotels and restaurants, though I prefer to go without it.
Hasta,
JR

Hi Fred
Well i was in puerto vallarta last year in july, and yes, it sure was humid. for example, it would have my hair set a certain way , then walk outside down to the restaurant, look in mirrow and my hair was totally different, all curly.(it was straight when i left room. i would bring a small white face cloth to keep wiping my face with . not much of a breeze, even swimming in the ocean, was not really much of a relief. i had promised my self never to go again that time of year, but ive booked this time to cancun end of june (seems to be the best specials) so hopefully it won't be as bad. as long as you take it easy, drink plenty of fluids. hope i didn't scare you, feel free to email me if you need to know any thing else otherwise have fun.
Puerto Vallarta is a TRULY MAGICAL tropical paradise!!! The weather in Vallarta is NO different than Florida, the Caribbean, other Mexico beach towns & Hawaii at any given time (meaning in Aug. it IS hot & humid & you get the tropical rains - normally late afternoon when it normally pounds down for 10 or so minutes & then clears up!) EXCEPT it's been AGES since Vallarta's had a hurricane come into it's bay & NONE of those other destinations can say the same thing!!!
