Can you tell me a little about the wheather in October? I have heard that it may be hurricane season. Any info about this?

It is hurricane season, which does not end until Nove. 3oth. We have been in Playa three times in October and for three weeks each. Twice it did not rain at all, last year we alot of rain, but not all day so our trip was not ruined. Problem is if you travel between June and December, you could have a hurricane

So, regardless of when I go, I will be taking a chance on bad wheather, right? My choices are August-November. I guess I should just take the chance???

We were there October 27th ,for a week and it was the worst weather week we have ever had in more than 20 years...As a matter of fact our plane for other reasons didn't arrive until Midnight...and that day had been torrential downpours..Had once decent day in a week..

A few years ago, we were on Isla Mujeres (off Cancun) for Canadian Thanksgiving. I've never seen that much rain in my life - it was torrential. In the week, we had 3 or 4 good days, but when it rained, it poured. I don't think we'd risk going at that time of year again - we were just a few days before a hurricane. If I did have to go during that season, I'd probably choose as late as possible in November.
