Peurto Vallarta: Pesos or US $ ??
Even tho we live in Canada, we know we should take either US $$ or pesos.....I was thinking $1 US bills...use for tipping. THen the rest to shop or whatever pesos.
Also, two ladies staying at Jolla Mismaloya hotel...just want a relaxing R&R fun weekend...two moms...some R&R....how far by the local bus into town for the evening? how much is the bus? Can you suggest the best area of the hotel to request a room? Any information would be helpful....sportymom23

No! use pesos only. It maybe convenient for you to tip in a foreign currency, but the person who you tip is very likely living in an area with no banks or exchange booths and the stores there won't take anything but pesos.
Also you'll loose exchanging CAN$ to US$, just change your CAN$ here at an exchange booth, or get an even better rate of exchange by using an ATM machine.
What you have heard is totally incorrect.
The bus to town is 7 pesos, they will not take anything but pesos. About 15 min. to the south side of town.
The bus stops around 11pm so you'll need a taxi after that to get back.

I only use peso in Puerto Vallarta, for everything. Wait until you arrive and change your Canadian dollars directly to peso, or use an ATM machine to get them. There's no reason for a Canadian person to bother with USD, unless you have an airport transfer in the U.S. on your way down or back, that you need a small amount for food or whatever.
