Mystic River or Table Rock?

I've been studying lodging in the Cayo area for awhile now and I think I've narrowed our choices down to Mystic River and Table Rock Lodge. I'm still trying to figure out our itinerary, but I hope to stay four nights in the San Ignacio area after visiting Tikal. Then we hope to move to Chan Chich for the final 3-4 nights.

Any opinions, pros and cons, etc? Both lodges get great reviews!

Sorry, we haven't stayed there. Have heard good things about Mystic River though. Was Chaa Creek not appealing to you? That's probably one of the more popular places to stay. I can't remember if you had taken a look at it.

VG,
Chaa Creek is not out of the question, but it seems like it may be a little more fancy than what I'm looking for. I'm keeping an eye on Luxury Link though since they've had something offered on there consistently for the last couple of months. Unfortunately, at the moment the deals only go through the end of this year. The price is a good bit higher than Table Rock and Mystic River without a discount.

All these lodges are fine. Chaa Creek is the best in the region for all they do. Table Rock is also quite good and moderately priced. I've not been to Mystic River, but have booked clients there and friends have visited and say its very well done. You'll be fine at any of them.

Deb, yes I hate that - interferes with my planning gene! Good luck finding your spot. Like Katie said, I really don't think you can go wrong.

Q,
At this point Chan Chich will be part of our itinerary for 3 to 4 nights, hopefully at the end of our trip. Actually you can't get into the lodge now under low 2's for double occupancy.

I've visited Belize First several times and found good info. I think we're leaning towards a stay inside Tikal during our time there, although I'm concerned about no electricity at night in May. Great reviews of La Lancha, but I thought the Tikal lodging might give us a little break in the pocket book!

Katie,
I know Chaa Creek is a favorite on this board, and it's not been totally ruled out, but I think we might prefer something a little smaller and a spa is not a necessity. I'd never heard of Mystic River until I saw it mentioned here and in my research it seemed to be a good fit for us. Table Rock appears to be the cheapest of the three and the food is supposed to be excellent. Plus...Lan Sluder himself just posted a glowing review of Table Rock on Trip Advisor back in September!

VG,
It sounds like you are almost my twin...at least as far as traveling goes. I need to quit spending so much time on this stuff and clean my house! Yuck!!!
