Money--- what type to bring?

We leave for CR in just over two weeks and we have everything planned... thanks in part to this forum. So thank you. We have one last thing to work out. What form of money do we bring... cash, cc, traveler's checks?
Advice please

We use cash and credit cards. I wouldn't bother with traveler's checks. For cash, it helps to have bills that are in good shape and in denominations of $20 or less. If you're going to use your credit card, be sure to let your cc company know before you go; sometimes they'll block your account if you don't. A lot of cc companies will charge a final conversion fee on your out of country purchases - about 1 to 3% depending on your card.

There are charges for ATM card use and typically a separate fraud alert department at your bank needs to be contacted.

Always ATM Colones for best FOREX exchange rate

with my no fee www.capitalone.com Visa

Also use it for all my tansactions

Can contest bogus charge service that way

Get my money back if fraud or service not good

Do notify CC company of your travel and set up your PIN

per hopefulist.

Also keep clean not torn small bills USD for backup

do not use them much.

ATM charges come from your home bank, that's who you need to check with about that.

While there we used mostly cash and colones. Our driver took us to a bank and we were able to exchange our money - this made it helpful in not having to figure out what to give etc. and easier to give tips.
