Both are very nice, luxury hotels.
Both too rich for my wallet, so I can't
speak from personal experience about the rooms, service, etc.
Having said that -
The outside of the Copa Palace is magnificent, much prettier than the Caesar Park.
However, the rooms may not be any different... I just don't know.
I've found that many hotels in Rio have facades and lobbies that differ greatly - but have very similar rooms.
Both are right across from their respective beaches too.
The opinion that I do offer from experience is that I'd recommend Ipanema over Copa. Nicer, cleaner beach. Better restaurants, imo, too.
And more of a "neighborhood" feel.
I don't think you'll be unhappy at either one. Have fun!

I agree with previous post. Ipanema is a much nicer area, especially if this will be your first visit to Brazil. In both hotels it is important to specify "luxury" or "deluxe" room accommodations if want a beach front "water view" room. If not, you may end up in the back of the hotel facing a busy street. The back end of the Copacabana Palace faces Avenida Nossa Senora de Copacabana, which is one of the noisiest streets in Rio.

Yes, for a honeymoon - pick a water view deluxe room at the Caesar Park Hotel.

Copa Palace is probably the best hotel in all of Latin America. It has a full size pool too. Ipanema neighborhood may be a bit more high class but the Copacabana Palace is the better hotel. Also for a honeymoon take a look at Buzios Colanna park hotel at www.buziosonline.com or www.blameitonrio4travel.com. It is 125 miles NE of Rio and it can be part of your Brazil trip, great for couples on honemoon, it has more of a tranquil feel than Rio.

I've just returned from Rio and have visited both hotels on previous trips. Both are very nice but very different with regard to pool and beach. The Caesar Park has a tiny pool on its roof with a fantastic better beach across the street (with their own security guards). The Copacabana Palace has a wonderful pool area (which loses the sun quickly as its surrounded by tall buildings) but the beach area is not as nice as Ipanema (Copa is too much of a tourist circus for my taste). The shopping/dining area around Ipanema is in my opinion far better. Personally, I'd go for the Caesar Park.

A couple of other alternatives if you like big pools are the Sheraton Hotel which is at the end of Leblon, they have a big olympic style pool with big resort style grounds. The same goes for the Intercontinental similar grounds but a little further away in Sao Conrado. The Sheraton also has its own private beach and the Intercontinental has one across the street. For both hotels to go to dinner outside the hotel you would need to take a taxi to Ipanema or Copacabana about 10 - 15 minutes away. These hotels are away from the hustle and bustle of Copacabana and Ipanema, they are more secluded. They are also closer to Barra da Tijuca which also offers some oppurtunities also as far as beaches, shopping and restaurents are concerned with more of a residential feel.

I would stay at the Copa; it is by far the nicer hotel. The Caesar Park is nice but is in an absolutely horrible building.

It is true that Ipanema is a more desirable area, however, there are prostitutes there as well. And, I would not say the beach is much better there. Just take taxis in the evening and go where you want to go.

And as Don said, if you really want to chill out on some nice beaches go to Buzios. Rio is to ghectic to chill out in.
