Hotel Help - Kinda Desperate - Yucatan Peninsula
Hi folks,
I have searched and searched for affordable hotels south of Tulum/Akumal (we would really like to stay in Akumal actually), but can't find anything for under $1400 or so for 10 days. We just want simplistic, cheap bungalow or room, etc., (anything less than $1000,(but I'm not coming up with anything. I don't know what other searches to put in at this point. Does anyone have ideas??
We leave a week from Weds and I just want to get this settled. At this point we'll go anywhere along the coast as long as it isn't tourist-riddled. Even any ideas for south west of Cancun would be fine.
Thanks for any help..
Amy

Akumal is mostly condos and villas - is that why you can't find what you are looking for? There should be plenty of condos in your price range...kind of basic ones.
If you'd rather have a beach cabana - look at Tulum. A few hotels - Tita Tulum, Nueva Vida, LUV (email and ask for unadvertised specials), Tierras del Sol, La Conchita.
I'm not sure where you have been searching. But there are many hotels like what you are looking for in Tulum.

I haven't stayed there myself, but I've bookmarked this place for future reference They're pretty close to your budget.

Amy~ Where are you searching? Often the cheap places aren't on the mainstream websites. Some of them aren't even on the internet. Have you checked the destination forums over at Trip Advisor for that area?

We chose to stay in Tulum Pueblo and absolutely loved Posada Luna del Sur:

It gets fabulous reviews on Trip Advisor:

We wanted to stay further south for easier access to the fishing in Boca Paila. Tulum is also great for the ruins of Tulum and Coba, lots of cenotes, and just 15 minutes or so from Akumal. In December (while staying further north) we loved visiting the Jungle Place Spider Monkey Sanctuary which is between Akumal and Tulum.

Check homeaway.com or vrbo.com for condo rentals in Akumal or Puerto Morelos or others nearby. You should be able to find something in your price range ... and having a kitchen is always a good thing for saving some money. Next time around, if I were you, I'd start a little earlier, though ;-)

Hi Amy. How many people are in your party? Do you have to be ocean front. We can look to see if we can find you a place, if we haven't already. We can look in Akumal for a last minute opening.
