fruit and nuts brought into Argentina

Are we allowed to bring our own closed and packaged fruit and nuts from the US into Argentina? And if the package is open will we be asked to declare it at customs?
Thanks, Barbara

I have brought cans of almonds and cashews to Argentina many times and never had a problem. I have never tried to bring packaged fruit, other than dried fruit included in bags of trail mix. No problem with trail mix either.

I suspect fresh fruit would be a problem, even if packaged.

Thank you for your quick response. I am not carrying fresh fruit, just trail mix and other "healthy" snacks! Leaving today and can't wait!
