confused about trip

I am planning a trip for 4 couples I have been to cr before tamarindo, manuel antonio, osa, arenal. I want to show my friends the CR I love ,but due to budget and logistics we are picking one location for a week . We want beach activities and wildlife. I have zoned in on Montezuma. It seems to have all of these is that correct? We are looking at ylang ylang and renting a beach house. I like that the meals are included at ylang. I am worried about eating at the beach house is there lots of resturants in montezuma? What can I expect to pay? what about groceries? We hope to fly into tambor and ferry /shuttle back. Looking for nice hotel with atmoshere near san jose last night. Have stayed at orquideas before and not impressed. I always get nervous planning for a group.

Xandari is a great hotel about 20 minutes from the airport. It's beautiful with neat architecture, beautiful views, small waterfalls on the property, and a nice open air restaurant. We like Grano de Oro for a city hotel. Built in an old mansion with a great restaurant on site and rooftop garden with hot tubs. Xandari will give you free one way transportation to the airport.

There are a few restaurants/sodas in Montezuma. I think you'll be fine for a week. I'm sure there will be places you like and will want to go to more than once. When we stayed at Ylang Ylang the price included breakfast and dinner, so we were still on our own for lunch. However, we did eat there for lunch too. The food there is very good. Wildlife is decent (lots of monkeys around YY), beaches are rocky/pretty so you have to walk a bit to swim. Very nice walks though! I'm sure you've read up on Montezuma so you know the vibe there and if it fits your group.

Montezuma is good but I would also recommend looking into drake bay (on the osa). You could take the bus from san jose to palmar norte then a taxi to sierpe. Then, take the boat ride from sierpe to drake bay. It's an inexpensive adventure to get there. At drake bay you have a lot of hikes and you're close to the beach and the jungle. Here's a map view of whats available in drake bay and where I stayed:

If I wanted to show first-timers one location in costa rica, I would show drake bay because it's so natural and remote and the bus ride shows how wild the center of the country is.

Drake Bay is gorgeous, but if you're going to plant yourself for a week I think you're heading in the right direction with Montezuma. For a week in Osa I would choose Puerto Jimenez over Drake Bay.
