Checking the CDC for news, Belize requires yellow fever shot
I was checking the CDC site for info on South America and also looked at Belize. It said that the yellow fever vaccine was required if you are coming from a country where yellow fever is found. Here is a quote from the website:
Although yellow fever is not a disease risk in Belize, the government requires travelers arriving from countries where yellow fever is present to present proof of yellow fever vaccination. If you will be traveling to one of these countries where yellow fever is present before arriving in Belize, this requirement must be taken into consideration.
My question, anyone had a problem entering Belize if they had been to South America (Buenos Aires, Calafate, Puerto Madryn, and Iguazu Falls)? The last place is the one to worry about.

I'm traveling to Belize in September and was wondering the same thing about shots. I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday to get any shots I may need. I'll come back and post on what they recommended. Or you can check Monday night at belizeantravel.com (documenting the planning for the trip) to see what the results were.

There are no required vaccines for travel to Belize. Other than the above mentioned requirement for yellow fever is traveling from a 'yellow fever area'.
Hepatitis A and B are recommended. Typhoid is recommended. You should be up to date on your tetanus, as well as measles, mumps and rubella.
Malaria prophylaxis is recommended.
The decision you reach for vaccines and your trip should be between you and your physician.

late reply, and don't know the answer, sorry. Maybe if it is chillier, and windier, they are less of a problem? can't say, although they really weren't that bad. Annoying, rather than a major pest.
