Best beach for swim/snorkel?

We are looking for nice, but laid back hotel, with good food and great beaches for spring 2000. We loved the Caribbean Islands, is there anything in Mexico that compares? All-inclusive is an option, but we like to explore too.

Do a search in this forum for Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. There are lots of places to snorkel in those areas. I also love the Pacific coast of Mexico, but it doesn't have the nice snorkeling. Disregard the previous note - it is just wrong! I used to go to the Caribbean, but for several years now, we've gone to Mexico and love it.
Try Playa Dela Carmen and Cozumel but also think of the Mayan Riviera just south of Playa del Carmen. Our best so far and you can snorkel right from the beach.

Hi Jan.
The Presidente Hotel in Cozumel is excellent for all of your needs. The service and food is great at the at the ocean front restaurant. There is a large private beach, and boat docks if you want to take a boat ride out to some beautiful reefs. The rooms are very clean and you get two bottles of water each day. There is a large pool with plenty of chairs to relax on. They offer large beach towels to lay on. The town is only a $3.00 ride away. I would recommend going to Carlos'n'Charles, or Fat Tuesdays for a fun night out. You can catch the ferry over to Playa de Carmen for the day for about $12.00 round trip. Have a great time. Louie.

In Cozumel, regardless of where you stay, one of the best snorkelling spots I've found is Playa Corona. It is between San Miguel and The Diamond (Allegro) Hotel. There is a restaurant here and a pier to access the water. Stunning marine life, close to reefs, simply spectacular. The taxi drivers will know what you mean. While in Coz' take the time and go to the East coast, drink cold beer and see the amazing view at Coconuts.
