Arenal hotel recommendation for a solo traveler?

I am 32 years old, a working yuppie. I can afford more than a hostel, but I like the environment of meeting other travelers.

I'll be in Arenal for a few days awaiting the rest of my group.

Can someone offer a recommendation for a single dude? Does it make more sense to stay closer to La Fortuna?

Only strict requirement is a private bathroom and bedroom. Wouldn't mind a pool / hot tub.

Also, any recommendation for a pair of single guys? We were thinking the thermal resort since we can afford it, but we aren't exactly on a honeymoon LOL

www.arenalbackpackersresort.com

best 5 star Hostel for singles action/party

where the backpackers come from around the world

a division of www.hostelpangea.com in SJ

Head there for best singles party action in CR

Privates are nice for hostels and quite cheap.

Have fun,

Check this website: www.arenal.net

Also... you were asking in another post about Interbus shuttle from the airport to Arenal. You should know that the shuttle drops you off at a hotel in the area so you really need to know where you will be staying in order to book the shuttle.

The arenal.net site has a great map so that if the hotel you end up with is not on the list of the Interbus shuttle stops in the Arenal area, you can get dropped nearby and take a taxi or just pay a little extra to get dropped off where you stay.

We like the Lost Iguana, but it's on the edge of town and kind of romantic. Maybe check out Silencio del Campo. It's really popular. Tabacon is the thermal resort you're thinking of. That might be a good fit for you.

I really enjoy Arenal Observatory Lodge. It is the closest where you can see volcanic activity, even if the volcano goes off at 3 in the morning, you have a balcony you can go out and watch it.

Great hiking, pool and hot tub, not particularly romantic so perfect for a solo traveler.

I have a few pics of the volcano from the lodge at my blog. I was a former working yuppie once, quit my job and moved to Costa Rica. You are going to have an incredible time.

I also like Arenal Observatory Lodge, for at least two nights because the road getting there is terrible!.

The Baldi Hot Springs are better for single guys, but you could stay somewhere else and just buy the admissions. Outside of town La Pradera not romantic just a place to stay they rent ATVs nice people though.

BTW the volcano isn't doing anything at the moment so don't drive up to the Obseratory to watch the fireworks...still the best view though.

If you have a car try to stay in the White Hawk house.

Montana del Fuego. Direct view of volcano and lava fireworks. Great pool and jacuzzis, with drinks and snack service at the pool. Spa if you're looking for massage, etc.
