8 Nights in San Pedro?
I am planning my first trip to Belize at the end of May 2011. Right now my plan is to stay at The Phoenix in San Pedro the entire time. Here's what I was hoping to do during my stay:
* 1 day recovery from jet lag (taking red eye to Belize from Seattle)
* 2-3 days of scuba diving
* 1 spa day
* 1 day exploring San Pedro
* 1 daytrip to mainland
And then whatever else strikes my fancy. I chose the Phoenix due to its location and amenities (oceanfront, walk to town, fitness center, spa). Do you think 8 nights on San Pedro is too much, or is it perfectly fine to stay put the whole time? I know lots of folks tend to move between ocean + jungle.
My main priorities are water sports, spa, and yoga. And good food.
Thanks!

We did a split between jungle and ocean, but if you don't want to do the ruins and caves, then I think it's fine to stay on Ambergris. It's a beautiful place. Lots of good restaurants, and the best snorkeling we've ever done, so I can only imagine how much you'll enjoy the diving.

If your main focus is water activities, I don't think eight days on Ambergris is too long at all.
Especially with a day in day for one of the tours on the mainland. I'd recommend the ruins at Lamanai.
The Phoenix is beautiful. Good restaurant too.

Lots of great diving on the local reef as well as night diving and the full day 3 tank dives to Lighthouse Reef atoll and the Blue Hole and Turneffe atoll. There are 4 atolls in our hemisphere and 3 are in Belize.

whoa, nice program you are going to have!! i envy you!
i was checking out some places for my next holidays too, and yours are very tempting! are you going somewhere else than San pedro?
i checked some cities in belize and actually if i had the money, i would have gone to all of them! but i was checking some hotels on http://www.hotels.com/ and on http://hotel.twenga.co.uk/ and unfortunately my budget doesn't allow me to visit everything!
do you have some tips for me?
thanks a lot!
