2 nights Rincon, 3 nights Arenal, and 1 night Tamarindo?
Hello. Thanks to all my other replies. Started a new thread to get some more input. From everything I am putting together, does not seem feasible with 6 nights (flying in and out of LIR-April 2010) to try and squeeze MA in. The Rincon/Hacienda all day pass is too good to pass up especially with kids ages 10 and 12-thanks for recommending this.
My new proposed plan:
1st night-Arrive LIR around 1 pm and drive to Rincon.
2-All day pass
3-drive to Arenal-volcano, Tabacon-? should we do this hot spring after doing the ones at Rincon?
4-Arenal-Cano Negro day trip
5-Arenal-observatory, volcano, hanging bridges
6-Drive to beach area to be near LIR-Tamarindo or Playa Hermosa. Captain Suizo or Flamingo or hermosa? would like a nice family friendly white sand beach to spend 1/2 relaxing before going back
7-LIR-flight is around 1 pm
Thanks.

Pretty crammed for me give Cano Negro a miss long slog
pick up ruralcostarica.com to/from tabacon.com BETTER
than all the Rincon springs free if u stay there night
lava views none of the other springs have this a must
do for me.
lafinisterra.com Hermosa is nice to be close to LIR
hotelcapitansuizo.com is my fav though...

Tabacon is pretty expensive, not sure of your budget, but be aware that the volcano has been inactive for the last several months. It wouldn't matter which side your lodge is on - no lava view unless it's been really recent.
Los Lagos is often recommended for families - several pools and their own springs, I believe.
We loved Cano Negro - you will see lots of wildlife, but it is almost the entire day. We saw very little wildlife in the Rincon area - remember it is dry tropical forest up there, not rainforest.

We just got back from Costa Rica and loved staying in Arenal we have a 11 and 8 year old and we stayed at the Lost Iguana the kids loved it as did we. We did go to Los Lagos and the pools and slides are great it just had too busy of a feel for us where the lost Iguana is more relaxed. Cano Negro was great we saw the most amimals there. We also did waterfall rappeling which the kids loved.
