Is this a rental scam?

Jump to last reply

My wife and I, a mature aged couple, are in the process of planning a round the world trip. We intend to use Airbnb as a source for accommodation. Firstly let me say that I am not accusing Airbnb of any scam. If it is a scam then I'm surprised that perhaps Airbnb haven't picked up on it. For example, when I was looking at accommodation in London I have found some listings that "don't quite sit right". There are three properties, maybe four that are all the same price, quite low actually, the only difference in the price is that two of them list a higher price for weekends. All the properties are in the same area in central London. The photos of the hosts are different. But the things that sent alarm bells off for me was that ALL the properties have IDENTICAL descriptions as to facilities, proximity to attractions and transport etc. The descriptions have been copied and pasted into each site.
I'd like the opinion of you more seasoned travellers on the forum. What do you think?
