Actually, according to a Gallup Poll 40% of American's now self-identify themselves as "Conservative."
From the Washington Times:
"21% self identify as Liberals and 35% as Moderates. This ties conservative records set in 2003-2004 (the data shown are since 1992), and is up 3% from 2008. I heard even in Alaska her poll ratings are in the dump - she can't even get along with their Republican house.
Paleque is right - the republicans would be idiots to nominate Sarah Palin, and that means they'll probably do it.
They like her because she's a woman, and they think that will bring them votes. And it may bring them some votes, but she will also drive many more people away, because she's got a lot of baggage which the democrats will hypocritically pounce on, and she doesn't come across as particularly bright or quick on her feet. The media will go from Obama lap dogs to Palin attack dogs over night, and she does not handle that very well.

I think we should all be concerned about her approval ratings. What should have been a runaway, slam dunk year for the Dems, ended up with Obama barely squeaking by in the vote tally against a guy too old and a woman too dumb. If she gets a halfway decent running mate, she might just get elected.
She has more executive experience than the current person who occupies the WH> - she did have - i'll take six months of being POTUS over a few years of being the part-time Governor (note spelling - Governor) of Alaska any day.

This obssesion with Palin is so ridiculous. And the hatred and bitterness these folks have towards her makes me believe that they have no compassion, and are just mean.
Interestingly, they make me think of three students I had this year. They were particularly mean and generally behaved badly. Our behavior specialist and my assist. principal were able to ascertain that they were acting that way because I was "sick" and they felt it was okay to treat me that way.
When I see the level of meanness displayed here, I think of these teenage boys. It is a very sad statement about our society that this kind of behavior towards anyone can be excused. As for the people on this board - I don't see much difference between some adults and those boys.

I think there is probably a lot to that. Many voters are sick of denigrating politics, and the democrats are particularly good at it.

Well this Brit is wright Sarah Palin is a dangerous proposition and the reason i want her as GOP Presidential nominee is because voters will realize that she would be a very dangerous choice - her being so awfully unprepared and mentally, with her border-line idiot IQ making her even more dangerous. I was hoping for an explanation of her policies, expertise, and experience and there was none. Can someone provide an adult assessment of Palin?
She's not stupid. She's incredibly adept at manipulation and back-biting. But she lacks a certain mobility of thinking that I think is the sine qua non of anyone in a high leadership position.
Her lack of knowledge of history, geography, and statecraft can be remedied - but her intrinsic lack of broad critical thinking ability cannot. I'd rather have Tina Fey as CinC.
