Why would a European want to visit America?

Better yet, why do so many want to live there?
So many of my friends are fast to critisize the US and yet they all ask me for help to do the lottery.
Just back from Paris and was shocked to see all the ads all over, telling people to get a greencard and how to do it.
To make sure I will only meet the usual nice, educated, polite, respectful Americans I'm used to meet and avoid those who posted all those nasty comments on this forum while they are visiting Europe (hopefully, the equally nasty European posters will be visiting the deserts in Outer Mongolia at the same time).

To see our "new" country,
where one can visit the beaches of
Maine or the beaches of southern florida.
where one can stand on the shores of the Atlantic coast and watch the sun rise, or the Pacific coast and watch the sunset.
Be in the snowy wilderness of Alaska, or the dry hot deserts of our south-west.
The Grand Caynon, Moab Desert, Badlands, the Rockie MTs. the Redwood forests, and the only temperate rainforest in the northern hemisphere
(in our northwest)
The bayous and the delta areas of the deep south, the Mississippi River, the Smokies, the Blue Ridge Mts, the Appalachian MTs (which are some of the oldest in the world)
The "blue grass " of Kentucky
The autumn foliage of New England.

And then there are the man -made sites to see.
which Blaine West already mentioned.
And the numerous political freedoms we have, which we are not shy about publicizing
The U.S is a spectacular country!

But, certainly that does not make us any better than any other country, and sometimes I think we here in the U.S take too much for granted, as our "god-given" right.
and due to this , we could be very close to losing what we have, and what made us what we are.

Sorry, on and on as usual.
I just think this is a lovely country, with great potential.
But, we should take good care of that horn that we seem to be so fond of blowing
