Which weeks for this itinerary in Italy?

Our itinerary is:

3 nights Santa Marguarita Liguria
2 nights Bellagio
2 nights Verona
4 nights Bologna

I have a choice using FF of the following dates

9/21-10/4

Or

10/4 - 10/18

I just can't seem to decide so any input would be appreciated.

ditto St Cirq- maybe marginally better weather in the Lakes area and northern Italy- earlier the better.

Be advised that it's the very height of high season.

I was in Northern Italy Oct. 23-Nov3 recently and the weather was actually quite nice, and the crowds were definitely less than when I have been there in September.

Re Verona: the Opera Festival performances will be long-over by the time you get there so the city will be far, FAR less crowded than usual.

Dukey,
Yes I knew the Opera Festival would be over but unfortunately there is some trade show. I was looking at the Accademia Hotel and one other but they were totally booked. Same case in Bologna another trade show that will be done just as we arrive. I don't know if that is why prices are high at Due Torri and Grand Hotel Majestic in Bologna. Have you stayed there?
Thanks again for all your replies.
