Which hotel in Cyprus

I am traveling to Cyprus July 31st. Has anyone stayed at the Athena Beach Hotel in Papos. Can anyone recomend a nice 4 star hotel that they have stayed. Also what about the safety for American travelers in Cyprus

Cyprus is a nice and quiet island. No particular safety problems for any type of tourist. The frozen situation between the Greek and the Turkish parts of the island is always the same.

In terms of hotels, we did not stay in Paphos, so I cannot advise about hotels there.
A nice four star hotel we stayed at was Le Meridien in Limassol.

I'm sorry I cannot help you re hotels. we were in Cyprus for 1 day on a cruise ship stop. but I want to recommend a jeep tour we took with Windflower tours ([email protected]). They have a car rental company but we did a guided tour with the owner, Lakis and another guide. It was wonderful. They were so friendly and generous. We saw so much more than others from the cruise ship. We went into the mountains, to tiny hillside villages that look like they haven't changed in the last 100 years. We had a picnic in the mountains, went to a typical Cypriot house, a monastery, to a beautiful glade with waterfalls. They spoke excellent English and were very informative. I can recommend it highly if you want to see more than just the beaches. The interior is so different.

The website is http://www.windflower.com.cy/secure/special.html

Thanks Rhea,
still trying to decide on cyprus or prague. been to Prague alot but meeting a woman from Russia. So i just do not want it to be boring for her.
I know Prague well though.
waiting to hear on flight prices now.
wish i was going more towards March to cyprus to swim and enjoy the water.
But, stil in the air. Easier for her visa to cyprus then Prague as she does not need one.
so any words of if there are things to do is good.
One way or the other i am going to either in Jan. Can also just wait and go to cyprus im march if anyone thinks that would be better.
Any words of wisdom is good to hear.
I've replied to your email Dan, but I've been in Cyprus in january and found it wonderful. Hire a car one day and go up into the Troodos mountains and go skiing, after a day at the beach the day before. Lots of things to see and do.

I'm not a 4 star hotel sort of person-I'd rather be in a country inn, but if I had to, I'd probably pick the St George
