Which arrondissement to stay in

I am planning a month long stay in Paris next year and have visited every "apartment to rent" web site there is and I am still very confused. Does anyone have suggestions for a great area close to metro and shopping. I have stayed in the 6th before and now would love to try another fabulous area.<BR>And can anyone make apartment suggestions? Believe me, your help will be greatly appreciated.

I lived in the 7th for a while and found that both the 7th and the 15th are central yet still quiet at night. As far as looking for an aparment...have you tried the FUSAC yet?

I just read a great article in France magazine on Ile St. Louis (apt through Chez Vous). Sounds like an interesting area.

I spent a week in Montmartre (the 18th arron.?) a few years ago and loved it. Get a place with a view of the Basilica, we did. Unfortunately, I've lost the contact for the apartment, but it was an 8th floor pied a terre with a terrace overlooking the Basilica. Wonderful feel to the neighborhood.
