Chere Jane,

Last time we were in the Loire Valley we stayed at Chateau d'Artigny just 10 minutes or so south of Tours. It is a beautiful place and had a wonderful restaurant and setting room. It is especially nice if you like old Cognac and Armegnac and Cuban cigars.

Loche is an enchanting place to visit. I knew nothing about it and it was just a chance day trip on a quiet Sunday. The visit to the ancient hill top village was one of the most enjoyable visits we had that trip. Sometimes the unplanned days turn out to be the best. We had a wonderful meal after a day of wandering the mid-evil village at a restaurant named the George Sand. Would recommend it highly.

Blois is also a great area to base your visits to the Loire Chateau. I think the chateau there has the richest history of all the chateaux in the Loire.

Bon Voyage,

RJS

Thanks, Randy and Steve! Do you have any contact information for those chateaux? The d'Artigny sounds right up my dad's alley.

Steve, what is the Grand Monarque like? I'd love more information if you have it.

Thanks again,
Jane
