Where to Stay Between Dingle & Galway

We are just about done with our trip plan, but have one night between Dingle & Galway. Hotel dates are pre-assigned for Galway or we'd go straight there, but since that doesn't work, we have one night to spend somewhere on our way. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Our trip is busy and may not suit everyone, but here is what we're planning. Any help on 4/25 would be greatly appreciated.

4/21 - arrive in Dublin
4/22 - Dublin to Kilkenny
4/23 - Kilkenny to Kinsale
4/24 - Kinsale to Dingle
4/25 - Dingle to ?? your help here!!
4/26 - Galway
4/27 - Galway
4/28 - overnight in Dublin
4/29 - fly home

Since I don't know what sights you plan to see on each leg, my advice is a bit generic:
I would consider to drive Dingle-Galway "nonstop", i.e. no overnight, and add that night to break the Kinsale-Dingle leg in two days. So you have more time to enjoy West Cork and Kerry.

Staying in Ennis would get most of the miles between Dingle and Galway out of the way and leave you with all of West Clare to explore the next morning.
Ennis itself should be pretty lively, given that it is the Easter holidays.

Cowboy1968 - if we did the Kinsale-Dingle leg in two days, what would you say is a good stopping point?

Doolin ! I'd stay in Doolin in a heartbeat. Plan on going to the pubs in the evening for traditional music and then walk home. See the Cliffs of Moher in the area.
If you have the time, on the way up from Dingle, take the road out to Loop Head from Kilkee. It's fantastic.
Then carry on up the coast road to Doolin.

If you haven't been, stay a second night in Dingle. It's delightful, the town, the museum, the drive through pass.

Kenmare would be my choice beyween Dingle and Kinsale and follow the N71 along the coast, taking a few sidetrips along the way. You could also stop in some small place like Glengarriff which I used as a stoppoing point for a couple nights. I ended up having a great time playing in some pubs while I was there.

The other option to be to do what laurie ann suggested and spend two nights in Dingle which based on this itinerary, a night to slow down would be good. That to me, would be a better option.

If you are driving non-stop to Galway it is a very full day but it can be done. It's much quicker to go through Adare and Limerick and then hit the M18 but you miss all of what Clare has to offer. Both Doolin and Ennis are good choices and both boast some pretty good traditional music in the pubs.

we're going to be driving from Shannon to Ennis (1st night at Old Ground Hotel to deal with jet lag) and then on to Galway. Suggestions for lodging in or around Galway would be appreciated. Thanks. After Galway it's on to Cong and then 2 nights at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden.

emv0816----Check out "The Poet's Corner" restaurant-pub in "The Old Ground Hotel" in Ennis. We had a great dinner there.

Bpesta---I second the idea of 2 nights in Dingle. The Connor Pass and the Slea Head Drive(exceptionaly beautiful) will take up a whole day. Between driving from Kinsale and checking in and the next day leaving somewhat early to drive to Galway, it doesn't give you much time to really enjoy the Dingle Peninsula.

Thanks for the advice on lodging in Galway and the Poets Pub in Ennis. The Meyrick is booked solid for the one night we're there,May7. It's a Saturday so probably popular place with locals. Know anything about the Menlo in Galway? We are staying at Heaton's on Dingle for 2 nights. heard it was nice.

Right near the Cliffs of Moher. A nice BnB "The Moher Farmhouse"

You can tool into Doolin for the pubs at night and spend some time at the cliffs in the daylight.

Nice friendly BnB. But aren't they all in Ireland!!
