What do you mean by "not bad weather"? Do you mean warm? Or likely to avoid snow and below freezing temps? Or what temps are you looking for?

and of course, we can't guarantee what the weather will be like, even in places where it is usually 'not bad" at Christmas.

However, lots of people come to Cornwall at Christmas. I can't tell you how many times in the last 15 years we've been for a walk on the beach in the sunshine on Boxing Day - we've even eaten lunch outside on occasion. great scenery, lovely hotels with decent food and wine - it's very popular so if you are interested, you should start looking now.

Don't know what your budget is, but I'd look at

the Headland, [Newquay] http://www.headlandhotel.co.uk/

The Cornwall Hotel, [near St. Austell] http://www.thecornwall.com/home.aspx

Falmouth hotel, [Falmouth] - http://www.falmouthhotel.com/

I just finished my plans for the holidays in europe; we decided to go to Strasbourg on christmas day, because it came very highly recomended by many friends for their christmas market. We found a gorgeous hotel and I am sure it will be great. I think it's worth looking into, because stasbourg is called like the christmas capital of france or something like that. Hotel name is Cour Du Corbeau Hotel...my big question now is restaurants for dinner

We had Christmas one year in Nice, France. The weather was mild, sunny but cold. I don't remember any rain. Lots of places for day trips, by bus or train.

We booked an apartment through this company and were pleased with it:

You can fly into Nice or get the train from Paris (or London). The train takes a while but we preferred it to flying at Christmas.

We have spent The Xmas season in London, Strasbourg, Brugge, Rome, paris, and Portugal and loved them all. Rome and Portugal were the mildest, but Strasbourg, Paris, Brugge all had wonderful Xmas markets which were nice. Nyou likely wont get warm weather ineurope, but we could eat outside in Rome and Portugal, but we also got rain and had to wear jackets etc. northern places like London, Paris etc you will need good winter jackets and could get snow or rain. The sun will be weak.

Europe is wonderful as a Xmas destination!

What kind of food and wine? I like Portugal for food and wine, and certain parts of Spain and Italy that also have mild winters. There is a lot of German wine I like (food less so) and one advantage of being in a cold place is that everything is set up to deal with cold weather (and has food to match). If you go to someplace like Barcelona and it gets a real cold snap, it can be worse dealing with it (or freezing rain) than if you were in Vienna or the heart of Italian Alps.

Does your family include young kids than need outdoor activities or amusements?

Try Germany for the best Christmas feel. Unbeatable Christmas markets and some snow to go with it (which is not bad weather: bad weather is when it rains during Christmas)

Love Rome for Christmas! I am not a huge fan of the Christmas markets, but adore the passegiata of Rome, walking and drinking under the twinkling lights.

Lisbon is pretty neat too, with the chestunuts roasting over the open fire!
