Where to drop off a car before taking a train to Paris?

Hi!
After getting great help here, would like to know if you have any inputs on where should we drop off the car after travelling in the Dordogne.

We will visit the Dordogne direction west to east, and wonder where it is best to get on a train? I believe it is best where the car office is right by the train station. What about Brive? Clermont-Ferrand?

Please share your experience/knowledge, maybe point out things worth taking into account.

Check out Libourne - on a TGV Bordeaux to Paris line.

But we are coming down from Rochfort to Bordeaux, then going east.

Brive is often recommended for picking up!

Clermont-Ferrand is certainly a very nice city with a splendid cathedral - a unique city to have a look around - Brive strikes me as a nice but not great city if that makes a difference.

We dropped off in Brive and were able to park the car right on the street leading to the train station. There is probably a lot around back somewhere. The office for Europcar (thru Kemwell) is about 1/2 block walk to the train station and they said where we parked was fine. There are many trains to Paris from Brive so the time choice is good.

Can't comment on the other town.

Also, not knowing the time needed to drive and return the car, we arrived early. We were able to change our train tickets(for a small fee) to an earlier train. We were happy to arrive in Paris earlier than planned.

It makes no sense to drop off at Clermont-Ferrand (which is in an entirely other part of the country) or Libourne if you're doing the Dordogne west to east. The obvious choice is Brive.
