Wheelchair assistance in Gatwick

My aunt has requested wheelchair assistance from her arriving flight in Gatwick. Does anyone know how far the wheelchair personnel are allowed to take her? Do they have to stop at immigration? Baggage claim? Customs? Can they take her all the way to ground transport or train departures?

Twice when returning home from being sick abroad I was given wheelchair assistance all the way to the taxi stand.

I don't know if this will help but we were in Gatwick last month and needed assistance. Problem is it was the other way around as we were returning to the US. They use "golf carts" and got us through immigration so I would see no difficulty in getting your aunt through all arrival hurdles such as customs, baggage etc.. and leaving her where transport is accessible.

It does help to hear the info for the return flight as well--thank you to both of you!

Anyone have specific info on the Gatwick end?

Ask the airline if it or the airport provide this service. If the airline is responsible, they should be able to answer your question. If the airport is responsible, I'd make a call and ask them.

According to Gatwick's official website, the phone number is:
011-44-0-870-000-2468. (The "0" after "44" may not be necessary if calling from the U.S.)

Not only can you get assistance to the Gatwick Express - you can also arrange assistance at the Victoria station end.

There was a thread about this very thing a few months ago. I don't remember the exact details but the Gatwick Express website probably provides all the info you need.

I spoke with both the airline and Travel-Care at Gatwick and I think she's all set. Thank you!
