Whatever happened to Elvira?

I really enjoyed her sense of humor. Sorry I know...this is not travel related....

Yes, it is travel related as she posted the BEST and FUNNIEST trip reports.
My guess has always been that she got tired of some of the insults thrown her way as well as a lot of the general nastiness which was rampant when she left. But that's only a guess.
It's sure been quite a while.

Patrick, I fully agree that Elvira was a treat to read: knowledgeable and entertaining.

And speaking of entertaining, where's ThinGorjus been hiding? And (dare I ask?) NYFoodsnob?

Last time I heard, Elvira was moving house but that has been at least a year ago...
I prefer to picture Elvira, sitting in a cafe in Paris having an afternoon apperitif or maybe sitting on the balcony of her small house in France, reading a book and not even having a computer

I've wondered what happened to her, as well. She had some great trip reports. I wonder what happened to the "loons," too.

I try my best to be a Loon but mostly end up being Loony

iregeo..Elvira called her group of traveling friends, Loons. If you can find one of her early trip reports, it is all about the Loons ... great comic writing~

Seems like several "old timers" and/or regulars are AWOl...in addition to NYFoodSnob and ThinGorjus, also missing lately are Uncleart (which I always misread as Unclear T) and airlawgirl.

I believe airlaw girl posts now as spygirl, I think she posted something not long ago. JohnG posted on cigalechantas Birthday thread, and GardyLoon sounds good to me

Iregeo, Loons were the group of ladies she traveled with. If you read her old trip reports she mentions the Loons quite a bit. That prompted people to say they wanted to be a Loon (in my secret heart of hearts of COURSE I wanted to be a Loon). So Elvira came up with a So you wanna be a Loon? questionnaire or some such. If I can find it I'll top it.

I REALLY miss reading Elvira's posts. She was one of my favorites - always funny AND informative.

Sorry, I don't think Thingorgus and NYFoodsnob are anywhere near her class. I don't enjoy reading posts that are pretentious and snobbish - which theirs usually are - JMO.

Hey, Anne! I'm glad you left that tip. I hightailed it out the back when I heard the police sirens. Glad you got home safely.
