What to wear in Munich

wear whatever you would wear at home for those conditions - there is no special dictates on what to wear or not in Europe that is different these days than back home. Jeans, shorts - and even nothing as public nudism in Munich park's is rampant and tolerated - take a walk thru the Englishcer Gardens on a nice day and see zillions of locals in the buff!

Munich is a pretty casual, come-as-you-are kind of place. So just check the weather and bring clothing appropriate to that and what you will be doing. We usually bring layers, although twice when I have been to Munich during the summer, we had a heatwave, so it was quite warm.

When I was in Munich for a week (in early spring), the general mode of dress most often resembled an American college campus. Of course young people headed out for dates were a bit dressed up, and of course business people favor a tailored crisp look. But otherwise everyone was dressed for comfort and democratic mixing.
If you are asking about what to pack for the weather, you can easily find weather forecasts on the internet the day or two before you leave and pack accordingly.

Wear whatever you wear at home. Unless you wear pajamas and slippers out in public, in which case don't do that and dress like a proper adult.

Aside from a week-ish long heat wave, it has been a cool summer so far. And for that I am grateful.
Even when it's 95F, it's still not terribly humid. It's certainly not comparable to a South or Midwest 95F.

Backing what was said before, wear whatever you feel comfortable with. the only addition to that: if you plan to go to some of the finer restaurants, then have something a little more formal with you. Other than that, whatever works for you ...

I have never seen super high fashion in Munich, more outdoorsy look. They wear everything. I love the Jack Wolfskin stores though and always get myself something from there. Best jackets ever. A fleece is good or light waterproof jacket for hiking in case it rains.

Since I live in Munich, there has not been one "hot summer month", i.e. June-September, when the weather was not cool enough to wear long pants. You might get lucky and get a week or two without any rain and the occasional heat wave. But you should not bet money on it.
Right now, you need long pants and a sweater once the sun has set because the nights are quite cool (around 12-15C).
And you definetely do not want to waste your hard-earned money on those clothing nightmares which you find at Angermeier Trachten shop (the pics that Patrick had posted).
Unless you want to get into some of Munich's most posh nightclubs (which is not worth the hassle, by the way), there is no dresscode for any location or situation in Munich. I would not hesitate to wear jeans and a hoodie to one of our 2* Michelin restaurants in town, or a suit & tie .. it just does not matter.
