What street in Paris is in that Clay Davidson photo?

I love this black & white photo with the Eiffel tower looming at the end of the street. Does anyone have info on where exactly to get this view?

Here is a link to view the photo--sorry I don't know how to do that "tinyurl" thing.

Most like it is rue de l'universite.
Go to www.pagesjaunes.fr
enter this address:
223 RUE DE L'UNIVERSITE
75007
On the listing, click 'photo'
Use the right-pointing arrow, and
. . . . VOILA !

lucygirl, long URLs are primarily a problem when they don't have breaks in them such as a hyphen, which in turn prevent them from wrapping.

Using tinyurl is surprisingly easy (I was amazed the first time I used it!): Go to www.tinyurl.com, paste your long URL in the text box provided, then click the "Make TinyURL" button. The page immediately refreshes with your new URL and even a link to test it; now just copy and paste that tinyurl in your Fodor's comments!

Hope this helps!

I love the pagesjaunes site. Before my trip in March I could look and see exactly what the street was like, what was next door on both sides, and even see our flat's front door.

Oh wow! Thanks travelnut-I just tired it and it totally works! I'm so excited to get a chance to take a shot of it myself in the spring.

ggreen, thanks so much for your advice! I had no idea how to do this.

I love this site!

Hi t,

Well done.

How did you find out that 223 works?

I used www.viamichelin.com which shows 226.

Pagesjaunes won't find that address, or any other number on that section of the street but 223.

hey, ira... on PagesJaunes.fr, I asked for 'rue de l'universite' without any 'house numbers'. I jumped down the listings until the last page of listings, then I chose the last listing and clicked 'photo', then I used the << >> keys to see down the street, and that showed me the same approximate view of the Eiffel as lucygirl's photo.

SuzieC - I don't think I have a favorite eatery (yet)... we're not foodies and have only recently been expanding our restaurant horizons.

We've been staying in the 14th the past couple of years, have tried a couple of places there - neighborhood cafe le Rendezvous, Chez Charles Victor, some places on rue Daguerre, and Indiana Cafe does some edible quesadillas... enjoyed Le Temps Perdu in the 6th, also Vesuvio, and Chantairelle in the 5th... a few years back we stayed in the 17th and ate at le 27 Gourmand (near Metro: Rome) a couple of times. In the 7th, we popped into Brasserie Ecole Militaire, and once we ate at Brasserie Suffren. Occasionally, we do a 'room picnic' or a bit of 'fast food' if we're in a hurry to get to a movie or somewhere.
