Villa Belvedere not Hotel Belvedere in /Argegno (Lake Como)

Has anyone ever stayed at the "Villa Belvedere" in Argengno? I see several comments re: Hotel Belvedere in Bellagio, but I believe this is a different hotel. Villa Belvedere is listed in Karen Brown but I cannot find much other information regarding it. Thank you.

My guess is that they are both the same hotel. It seems many hotels in Italy are taking the Villa name rather than the Hotel name. Makes them feel ritzier.

Karen,

Try a search on this site for Argengno--I have a vague memory of seeing some postings quite a while ago. Also, try www.venere.it for the hotel listing.

Karen, Not the same place.
Villa Belvedere is on the west shore
south of Tremezzo but Hotel Belvedere is
on the hill above Bellagio. Both are
excellent but I prefer the Bellagio
location as a base camp.

Bob, as always, you always seem to know the information! You are a great help. Can you tell me if you have seen the Villa Belvedere? We had heard that the location was very pretty, close to the ferry stop, and great food? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Karen, I have driven past but have never
stopped. It is a bit south to my taste.
I would prefer the G.H. Tremezzo for
location on the west shore, but Karen
Brown is always good and I have seen her
testimonial. Your call !

We stayed at the Hotel Belvedere at Argegno in May 1998. It is beautifully sited on the shores of Lake Como close to a ferry stop. We took the 3 night pensione rate which included breakfast and dinner. Wonderful home cooked meals and comfortable rooms with shutters which opened out onto a breathtaking view of the lake. We breakfasted on the terrace. We have recommended it to friends who have enthused as much as us. What's more the tarriff was very reasonable. Can't remember exactly what. If you e mail me I think I can find a contact number.
It is run by Jane and Giorgio and their family.
Villa belvedere in Argegno was really nice and quiet, not near any major town which made it nicer Swimming on the lake from their platform was beautiful. They were really nice and so were the guests. I loved it.
