VERSAILLES and the Grandes eaux Nocturnes

I want to go to this spectacular event on either Saturday July 24th or August 21st.
(It happens on Saturday evenings between 19 June and 28 August)
Night comes late in Summer so my question is thus:

Do they start up the event whether its light or dark?
Will it all be over by 11pm ?
What time does the train stop running to bring us back to Paris?
How do I purchase tickets now - before I get to Paris?

Thanks for any info.

In French, the reservation can be done on line through: http://www.chateauversaillesspectacl...acle.php?spe=9

The site announces a start at 21h and plans to finish at 23h45.

At that time (past midnight), there will be no more train to Paris. Night buses are available

Thank you very much Parisian for passing on the link. I can't quite make out if there are 2 happenings at different times and one can book for either or book for both on a combined ticket?
Could you/or anyone else, clear that up for me please.

La Sérénade Royale has a duration of 45 minutes and runs at 18h45 and 19h45

Serenade only: 18€
Grandes Eaux only: 21€
Both: 36€

At the bottom of the page, you have 3 independent reservation buttons:
Both - Grandes Eaux - Serenade

OK, I get it.
I think we will spend the entire day at Versailles and end with the seeing both the Serenade and Grandes Eaux. That should give my photographer husband plenty to do!
Very many thanks for answering my questions - appreciated!

Parisian - You have been so helpful and I think I have worked out that in order to spend the day at Versailles and see the palace & apartments, gardens etc. I need to book a Versailles Passport online, which also covers the RER ticket. Then, I need to book the combined ticket for the Serenade & Grandes Eaux.
My last question to anyone is where do we catch the night bus back to Paris and how do we find out where it will drop us off?
We have to make our way back to the 11th so will probably need a taxi from the drop-off point.

Just to set my mind at rest I would like to know the ropes...

I simulated on the RATP site a departure from Versailles to Paris 11 (place L. Blum) on Sunday August 1st at 0h30

It proposes bus 171 (station in front on the castle at the beginning of Av. de Paris) leaving at 0h37 to Pont de Sèvres metro station followed by metro line 9 all the way to 11th arrondissement (ETA 1h52 a.m.).

As the Grandes Eaux finishes earlier, you should not encounter a problem getting back home
