venice tour guide

Hello all.
My husband and I are leaving for Venice in (gasp) 4 days. We just decided we'd like to hire a private tour guide to maximize our time in Venice. Can anyone suggest a good one? We'd really like someone energetic and, dare I say it, fun?
Thanks in advance.

Look up Avventura Bellissime online. We took jsut one tour, not a private one but their Ghost Walk night tour. Our guide was a native Venetian, witty and entertaining. But more than that, it started to rain, a downpour with thunder and lightning, and he completed the entire tour without any rain gear. Most of us on the tour bought small umbrellas from the urchins who appear at such times, but our guide did not. We covered a lot of distance, it took two hours. I talked to them in Venice about another tour, and found the people friendly and helpful.
Good luck--No matter what, you'll love Venice like everyone else.

We have used Peter Kilby as a private tour guide, in Rome. Here is a link to his website. He lives in Umbria and I believe will give tours in Venice. Here is a link to his website:

Highly recommend Peter.

We were in Venice in April and used Howard Fitzpatrick as our private guide. He was great. It was a walking tour that brought us to many churches where he incorporated info about the various art and architecture. His website is http://www.venice-art-tours.com/
