Venice Restaurant - Open on Mondays

We are looking for a nice dinner to have on Monday while we are in Venice. But everything is closed.

Ideas?

It would be astonishing if every nice restaurant in Venice was closed on Monday unless you are traveling during Christmas or Easter or unless God has told you privately that Papa Francesco will be joining him in heaven on the Monday you will be in Venice.

What is your price range and do you want a Venetian meal and does it matter how far the restaurant is from your hotel? Anything else you are looking for? View? No tourists? Meat?

This is a high recommendation: Oliva Nera

http://www.osteria-olivanera.com

where we had a wonderful meal in September. We've been to Venice several times, and this was probably my favorite meal I've had in the city.

I had a swordfish crudo, spaghetti with botarga and incredible semifreddo for desert. I don't remember what my husband had but he liked his meal as much as I liked mine.

Reservations are necessary, as we saw many people turned away.

We really wanted to go to al Covo or Rivieria, which are closed Mondays. We ended up booking Riviera on Sunday night and booking Il Ridotto on Monday which is open. We are open to around $200 or so with wine pairings. We are staying at the Hilton which is not direclty on the Venice island, but anything thats accessible we would be open too.

There are plenty of delicious choices on a Monday evening. You may not find those listings on this board, however.

Btw, Al Covo is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and that's what it says on their website. Monday is my favorite night to go there for meat.

Your choices aren't quite to my taste. I was very disappointed in Il Ridotto. It was refined but I thought the atmosphere cold, and the food could have been served in any city in the world. While local ingredients were featured, the results didn't speak Venice to me. Upscale, yes. Delicious, not quite.

I have the Tap Venice restaurant app and there are several choices open on Monday.

What part of Venice will you be most likely to dine on that evening, or doesn't it matter? It will sort by sestieri.

Here are some listed. I've only been to La Zucca (which is fantastic and reasonably priced).

Algiubagio
Carla
Covo (according to this app, anyway, it's open).
Fiaschetteria Toscana
Ignazio
Linea d'Ombra
Mascareta
Mascaron
Ridotto
Riva Rosa (Burano)
Santa Marina
La Zucca

Another restaurant I really liked, no idea if it is open on Monday, though, is Acquapazza. It's Campanian cuisine. Soooo good.

Beccafico is very good - we went there twice in January including NYE. $$$ is right - NYE was 200E a person.
