Is your card verified? Do you have a secure code? Did you notify them in advance you would be making an online purchase on an Italian website so your account could be flagged?

My credit card company called me immediately after making the same purchase to verify that it was valid, since it was a charge in a foreign land. When I verified that it was OK, the rep also put my travel dates in their system.

I have my mastercard for maybe 15 years, and this is the first time I get that! and the security code 3-digit from the other side of the card didn't work.
I will call my card company from home.

No, I have not. I used the same card last year in Denmark and Norway, but not for advance purchases.
In the sample on Italian website I saw the code as a letter and 3 numbers - mine only 3 numbers.
Anyway, thank you, KY and Ellen, I will try once more at home - I saw something on their website about compatability of the browser, and sometimes I get different results at home and at work.
I am just upset it didn't work out from the first try

My first try to buy vaporetto tickets on that site about 2 months ago was unsuccessful. As Ellen suggested, the powers that be at VISA froze my card when it was an Italian transaction. A phone call unlocked the card, and then it went through fine.

>>>security code 3-digit from the other side of the card<<<
That's not the same thing as a securecode.

I will! I think I've goofed with that secure code thing - I've registered, but for some reason only got sign-in name and password, not a security code.
Why is it so difficult for me

Now I am really giving up unless VeniceConnected sends me a reply in e-mail. Called my credit card, called the number on Secure code website - both gave me the same answer: they only have 3-digit code for the US cards.
I did remember I had a 4-digit pin number... sigh... I was so desperate, I tried that one too

You create your code. It's not the number on the back of your card.
Q: How does MasterCard SecureCode work?
A: Once you've registered and created your own private SecureCode, you will be automatically prompted by your financial institution at checkout to provide your SecureCode each time you make a purchase with a participating online merchant. Your SecureCode is quickly confirmed by your financial institution and then your purchase is completed. Your SecureCode will never be shared with the merchant. It's just like entering your PIN at an ATM.
The Venice Connected site also says you must have an up-to-date browser for the cards to process. What browser are you using and what version?

KY, it may be the problem with the website - when I click on "where to find" on Venice site it shows circled 3-digit number on a credit card. In addition, when I registered my card to create a code, for some reason it wouldn't let me use 4-digits, only 5 minimum, letters and numbers.
I called the number on that website you are quoting, they said, they have no records of my code. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Holly, of course not And I have this card for maybe 15 years. Used for hotel in Venice, always for air, hotels, tours, cruises, shops in Denmark and Norway, and some time ago in Switzerland and Israel. This is the first time I'm trying to break a brick wall.

I've also tried KY's links - and cannot find my bank on the list, also when I called them, they gave me a different website, and 2 different people put me on hold "we need to ask" - so maybe my card cannot be enrolled?
Or maybe I'm losing it if I ever had it, that is...
Not the end of the world! Just a few Euros which are now like $1.50 or more with the exchange charges added.
What am I whining about? Going to Italy, to Venice, to Greece, so cannot get a code, who cares! I need to slap myself and move on to packing!
